On arrival in Kigali, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your safari guide at Kigali International Airport. After a short briefing, drive to Volcanoes National Park for a scenic hike on Mount Bisoke, rewarded with views of the Virunga ranges and a crater lake summit. Later, transfer to Tiloreza Volcanoes Eco Lodge to relax for the evening.
Mount Bisoke (Virunga Mountains, Rwanda)
After an early breakfast, head to Volcanoes National Park for a golden monkey trek, encountering these playful primates in the bamboo forests of the Virunga mountains—perfect for photography. After the experience, transfer via the Cyanika Border into Uganda and continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, one of Africa’s most biodiverse regions and home to mountain gorillas. Arrive at Bweza Gorilla Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Volcanoes National Park (Gorillas)
This is the highlight of your safari. After an early breakfast, transfer to the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for a briefing before your gorilla trek. Venture into the dense rainforest on a thrilling hike in search of a habituated gorilla family. Once found, spend a magical hour observing their interactions, feeding, and social behavior—an unforgettable wildlife encounter. Later, return to your lodge to relax and reflect. In the afternoon, you may opt to visit the Batwa people for a cultural experience.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Gorillas)
After breakfast, depart Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and enjoy a scenic drive through Uganda’s countryside to Kibale Forest, the primate capital of the world. Home to over 13 primate species, it’s renowned for chimpanzee trekking. On arrival, check in at Bweza Kibale Lodge before heading into the forest for an exciting trek. Encounter chimpanzees up close as they swing, feed, and interact. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Kibale National Park (Chimps)
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before departing with your safari driver-guide for Kampala. En route, stop at the Uganda Equator for photos and souvenirs. Continue through Uganda’s rolling hills and lush countryside before arriving in Kampala or Entebbe for your drop-off and departure. This marks the end of your unforgettable gorillas, chimpanzees, and golden monkeys safari.
