We ensure proper acclimatization on your Mount Kilimanjaro expedition. Our professional guides are dedicated to your success.
Prepare for an unforgettable journey to the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, where mesmerizing scenic vistas unfold before your eyes. Witness the grandeur of Africa's highest peak as it pierces the sky, offering visual euphoria and the promise of truly amazing, gallery-worthy photographs that will last a lifetime.
Our climbing itineraries are expertly designed for your success, featuring a seamless acclimatization transition. This means your body adjusts gradually and comfortably, maximizing your enjoyment and safety on the mountain.
One of the most popular routes for those determined to reach the summit – the Machame route, also known as the “Whiskey Route,” is the perfect pathway to the summit. Over half those who make the spirit-defining decision to climb Kilimanjaro will opt for this route, despite it being tougher and more treacherous than neighboring Marangu. The reason for its popularity lies mainly in its range of natural habitats and its flourishing scenery.
Monkeys in trees, soft heather lands, crater deserts, glacial walls, and lava towers – these are just some of the sights that pull people tumbling into the world of the Machame route. The Machame route can take four days to ascend and an additional two to come down the mountain. There is the option to stop at the Karanga Valley, which is recommended for those who want to ease the pace and boost their chances of summit success.
Machame is for those who want to take a more adventurous path. The days are longer, the way is steeper, and the challenges greater. If you have previous hiking experience, then Machame can truly test your fierce nature.

Touch down at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your driver will be waiting to greet you. Let your driver whisk you away to your chosen hotel in the bright and bustling city of Arusha –the gateway to Tanzania.
Arusha is the beating heart of the wild – the last port of civilization before heading out into dense jungles and rich savannah plains. The markets of Arusha burst with color, and throng with locals picking up their weekly wares. The numerous cafes sell dark and deliriously good coffee from the plantations, and close by the infamous National Park lures visitors in to explore her evocative Maasai culture and exotic flora and fauna.
In the evening, you will enjoy a quick briefing, which will be conducted by a professional Bush 2 City Mountain Guide about your trek, and to ensure you are ready for climbing.
After a hotel breakfast in Moshi/Arusha, you’ll drive 45/90 minutes through coffee plantations and villages to Machame Gate. There, you’ll register with Kilimanjaro National Park while your gear is prepared. Then, you’ll hike through rainforest and savannah to Machame Camp, enjoying views of wildlife, plants, and eventually Kibo Peak. Your porters and cooks will have a hot meal ready for your arrival.
Distance: 11km
Estimated hiking time: 5-8 hours
Elevation gain; 1,035m
Vegetation zone: Rain Forest
After a warm breakfast, you’ll start your day by packing up your gear and heading out across the heathland and moorland dunes. As you trek, you’ll experience increasingly higher altitudes, which will help your body acclimatize. You’ll climb the lava-filled Shira Plateau before making your way to Shira Camp, where your porters and cooks will have a delicious meal ready for you.
Distance: 5 km
Estimated hiking time: 5-6 hours
Elevation gain; 915m
Vegetation zone: Moorland
Today’s trek begins early with a steep, rewarding climb east across the Shira Plateau. After the junction of the Shira and Lemosho Routes, you’ll take a secluded trail for a break. Lunch will be at Lava Tower, an incredible 300-foot volcanic plug, before a rapid descent to your campsite in the Great Barranco Valley. This scenic spot is encompassed by massive valley walls and the stunning Kibo massif, with glaciers reflecting sunlight and a unique landscape featuring giant lobelias and groundsels. You’ll then enjoy a warm meal before retiring to sleep. Today’s climb will reach an altitude of 4,600 m, but you’ll descend to sleep at 3,900 m, an important strategy for acclimatization.
Distance: 10km
Estimated hiking time: 6-8 hours
Elevation gain; 850m
Elevation loss; –700m
This section of the Machame Route is filled with thrilling exploration and life-changing scenery. You’ll start the day with a 90-minute climb up the magnificent Barranco Wall, also known as the Breakfast Wall. After that, you’ll continue along a calm trail until you reach the Karanga Valley. Here, you’ll settle and mentally prepare for the final stretch of your journey.
Distance: 6km
Estimated hiking time: 4-6 hours
Elevation gain; 300m
Elevation loss 205m
Vegetation zone: Alpine desert
The final day on the Machame Route before the summit begins with a gentle climb through the Karanga Valley, where temperatures will drop and vegetation will thin out. You’ll set up camp on an exposed part of the ridge (barafu camp) and enjoy an energy-rich meal to prepare for your midnight ascent to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Distance: 4km
Estimated hiking time: 3-4 hours
Elevation gain; 678m
Vegetation zone: Alpine desert
Your journey to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro starts just after midnight, taking you across sapphire glaciers to Stella Point. A beautiful sunrise will illuminate the summit as you proceed toward your ultimate destination: Uhuru Peak, known as the “Rooftop of Africa.”
From the summit, you’ll feel an immense sense of exhilaration and triumph as you look down upon the clouds and ice. Following a celebration with your support team, you’ll descend to Barafu Camp for a short break, then move on to Mweka Camp. There, a hot meal will be waiting, and you’ll spend your last night on the mountain unwinding beneath the stars.
NB: This is the longest and most challenging day of the trek.
Distance: 17 km, (5km ascent, 12km descent)

After breakfast, you’ll walk back to Mweka Gate, enjoying the misty, deep green forest. You’ll then say goodbye to your guides and porters before getting into the shuttle that will take you back to Moshi, where you can look forward to a hot shower, a comfortable bed, and fresh clothes.

To ensure your comfort and maintain excellent hygiene during your Mount Kilimanjaro expedition, portable toilets are thoughtfully included in your package. Our aim is to provide a clean and convenient experience at all times.
We understand the importance of privacy and freedom while on the mountain. By providing dedicated portable toilets, we avoid reliance on public facilities. This not only gives you more personal space but also addresses the challenge of maintaining hygiene in public toilets, which can often be heavily used and difficult for park authorities to keep 100% clean at all times.
International flights to and from Tanzania are not included.
Please note that tips for your climbing crew are not included in the package price. Tipping is customary and greatly appreciated by our hardworking team for their excellent service. We encourage you to read more about our suggested tipping structure on our website for detailed guidance.

This means you don’t necessarily have to buy all the equipment, especially if you don’t anticipate needing it for future treks. Instead of carrying a heavy load of gear from home, you can opt to bring essential items and rent the rest upon your arrival, making your travel much lighter and more convenient.
Please note that our package pricing is based on shared accommodation (double occupancy). If you are a solo traveler and prefer a private room, a single supplement will apply and will be an additional charge to your package.

EXCELLENT Based on 181 reviews Posted on Simone BVerified Beyond All Expectations – An Unforgettable Journey in Tanzania We spent 11 days in Tanzania with Bush 2 City: 6 days on safari and 4 days in Zanzibar, and everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish. From the very beginning, we felt supported and taken care of throughout the entire trip. Everything that had been agreed before departure was fully respected, with no surprises and excellent organization. The safari experience exceeded all our expectations, especially thanks to our driver Ali, who was professional, knowledgeable, kind, and always attentive to our needs. His experience truly made the difference and turned the safari into something unforgettable. It was a dream holiday, one we will remember forever. For us, Bush 2 City is highly recommended without hesitation.Posted on christine lVerified Top Dollar, Top Guide, Top Service Bush2City Definite Winner Hand Down Want personalization and expert guiding with fair prices, then choose Bush2City. Definite winners, hands down!Ibraham in Kenya or Ally in Tanzania can locate rare sightings, like a lioness preparing to give birth, long before guests even notice themThese guides explain the "whys" behind animal behavior and offer cultural storytelling experiences. Ask, and they deliver. Ally bought us cheap Coke so we did not have to pay restaurant markups, and Robert in Kenya found the travel converter we forgot to pack without even making us change currency. Ibraham helped me up and down the high step—a real lifesaver. These guides adjust to your pace.A personal representative who follows up by cellphone Neema, stationed in the office, called us every day.Neema was so concerned whem i requested meddical transport that she made it a point to hold my hand tothe airport. Jackson, the owner, also got involved and made certain I got fair prices and his discounts for the emergency travel. Exceptional service and 24/7 availability. Do what I did: call around after you get a quote from Bush2City, and you will find other operators charge more.Posted on Divij KVerified A great agency with a bright future. Bush2City planned our one-week Tanzania safari trip in Angata Migration Camp Ndutu and Four Seasons Serengeti, and the safari experience itself was excellent. The wildlife viewing went beyond expectations, the planning and timing of the safaris was perfect, and our safari guide DAVID was knowledgeable, timely, helpful, and accommodative. The 8-seater vehicle was very comfortable, with ample space and a pop-up roof that was ideal for photography and an overall better experience. Both properties were clean, well managed, and offered great hospitality, with good coordination throughout our stay, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable safari experience. The only downside, given that it is a fairly new company, is that there were coordination and communication issues regarding the bush flights. A domestic flight was missed due to booking confirmation oversight, and were taken late to the airport. The internal bush flights miscommunication caused confusion and unnecessary stress at the start of the trip. We were also not informed in advance about a stop on our domestic return flight. While international flight delays were not their fault and the team did make genuine efforts to help, their ability to handle pressure situations and manage flights needs improvement for all future travels. Rest all service from JACKSON, NEEMA and DAVID was excellent!Posted on Curious11054329854Verified Fantastic!! Bush2City has managed to turn a naturally fantastic experience (the Safari) into something magical!! Me and my wife only have to thank the company, and in particular, Neema and David, in addition to excellent guides, are good people, who helped us in everything and a little more we needed during the after the whole tour!! Happy New Year to all!! Thank you for everything!!Posted on Cherisha KVerified Tanzania safari experience Jackson we very responsive from the very beginning to the end for planning every detail on this trip for our family considering we had kids under 10 we wanted to make sure that the trip was curated specific to our liking. The drivers that were with us for the entire trip were a wealth of knowledge, were always accommodating to on our schedule and made every effort to ensure a wonderful viewing of all the animals , sunrises sunsets and also took us to some local artisans and shopping sprees to end the trip !! Highly recommend Bush 2 City for your safari adventurePosted on Ann TVerified Trip of a Lifetime Our fabulous “trip of a lifetime” proved to be everything we envisioned. Animals roaming free on the African landscape; a balloon ride over the Serengeti; spectacular sunsets; amazing tented outposts within the National Parks. The people were warm, welcoming and ensured our every comfort. With special thanks to our guides and driver, Nickson, who took very good care of us.This was truly a spectacular experience!Posted on jrestr1234Verified Amazing company This was our second Safari. The company did an amazing job with all the planning, selection of hotels, guides and vehicles. Jackson organized our trip and he did an amazing job. Our guides were David in Tanzania and Richard in Kenya. They went above and beyond the call of duty. We use this company because a friend of ours from Switzerland had used them and had an amazing experience with them as well. I highly recommend them.Posted on Leonora MVerified Best trip ever We booked this 13 days best of Kenya and Tanzania luxury tour with Jackson, the owner of the company. It was privet tour. He answerd all our questions. Added one extra day in Nairobi. Everything was very organized .And the nice touch to the trip was that Jackson meet with us in the middle of the tour. The guides- drivers Patrik and Ali are the best! They are very knowledgeable and experienced guides and great people. The best! They new where to go to find animals. And we saw all of them! All the lodges and camps were excellent. All of them were inside the parks. It's very important not to waist time, while you'd like to see animals. It was amazing to see animals and birds walking on camp or lidge territory, you can here at night elephants or lions make noise. The food was delicious! Mostly it was buffet. If you need to take lunch box , chef would come to your tabe and ask what to cook for you (at camps). The most important part of the trip are people . They are so nice! I'd like to say special thanks to people from. Sametu camp. Ian, Alex and everyone else made out stay feel like being at home with my friends. Thanks to everyone for making our trip unforgettable!Posted on Johannes SVerified Kenya and Tanzania Safari We had a fantastic Safari with Bush2city across Kenya and Tanzania. Our guides John and Ali had outstanding experience and extremely knowledgeable and the accommodation was first class. We can highly recommend Bush2city for your safari!!
