Group Climbs: Connect, Share, and Summit

Looking for an incredible way to meet like-minded travelers? Our group climbs are perfect for you! They offer a unique chance to share this life-changing journey with people from all over the world. Picture this: sharing meals and stories with new friends at camp, and laughing together as you trek. These shared moments often forge friendships that last long after you’ve descended the mountain.

We have a number of scheduled groups climbs throughout the year. If you don’t see a date that works for you, just let us know! We can often open new groups to match your schedule.

How to Join: Reserving your spot is easy—all you need is a small deposit of $150. The remaining balance can be paid once you arrive in Tanzania.

Private Expeditions: Your Journey, Your Way

If you prefer a more personalized experience, a private expedition is the way to go. This option is ideal for those who want to hike solo, with a family, or just with a select group of friends. It offers ultimate flexibility in terms of both climbing routes and dates. Whether you want a premium adventure or a quieter, more private trek, B2C Adventures can tailor a trip specifically for you.

Answering Your Top Questions

We know you have questions about your trek. Here are some of the most common ones we hear.

How many people are in a group?

Our groups are usually 9-12 people, which we’ve found is the perfect size for effective management and social interaction. During peak seasons, we may have more sign-ups, but we always split larger groups into smaller, more manageable teams. We do this to ensure everyone has a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Why is a group climb more affordable?

It’s simple: shared costs! The expenses of an expedition—like crew salaries and food supplies—are divided among everyone in a group. This makes group climbs a more budget-friendly way to experience Kilimanjaro. For private trips, the cost per person goes down as your group gets bigger, so it can become quite affordable for families or larger groups of friends.

What’s the difference between a group and a private climb?

The main difference is who you’re trekking with. A group climb is open to anyone who signs up, creating a diverse and social atmosphere. Private climbs, on the other hand, are exclusive to you and your chosen companions.

Another key difference is flexibility. Group climbs have fixed dates and itineraries, while private trips can be customized to start on any date that suits you. For instance, if you want a special meal plan or a private sleeping tent, those options are typically available on a private climb.

Where do trekkers come from?

Our hikers come from all corners of the globe! We typically see travelers from the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and various European countries. We also welcome adventurers from places like Brazil, Japan, and Singapore. To ensure everyone can communicate easily, English is the primary language spoken on all our trips.

What about solo travelers?

Solo travelers are welcome on both group and private climbs! If you book a group trip, you’ll be paired with another traveler of the same sex to share a spacious three-person tent. If you prefer a private tent, that can be arranged for an extra fee.

Our Unwavering Commitment to Safety

Your safety is our top priority. We follow strict safety protocols on all our expeditions, whether group or private.

Equal Attention: Our guides give the same level of care and attention to every single climber, ensuring everyone is monitored and supported.

Medical Checks: We conduct daily medical check-ups to monitor your acclimatization. This helps our guides spot any potential issues early.

Summit Support: During the final push to the summit, our guide teams are reinforced with extra support to ensure every climber has a professional by their side.

Essential Equipment: Every expedition is equipped with a comprehensive medical kit and oxygen systems.

We are so confident in our safety procedures that we guarantee all our departures. This means that even if you are the only person who booked a trip, we will never cancel it.

Is it Possible to Change the Start Date of a Group Climb?

Changing the start date of a group Kilimanjaro climb is generally not possible. The dates for these expeditions are fixed because other participants have made their plans, booked their flights, and scheduled their vacations around them. Altering the date would disrupt their arrangements.

However, if our scheduled dates don’t work for you, we still want to help you make your climb happen. You can contact us directly to see if we can open a new group that aligns better with your timeline. Alternatively, you can opt for a private expedition. This option gives you the freedom to choose any dates you like, and we can customize the entire trip to fit your needs. Our B2C Adventures consultants have climbed Kilimanjaro many times, so they have the knowledge and experience to help you find the best solution for your journey to the summit.

Choosing Your Route

We have carefully selected the best routes for our group adventures, focusing on great acclimatization and amazing scenery. Our most common routes are the 7-day Lemosho, Machame, and Rongai routes. We highly recommend these over shorter options to give you the best chance of reaching the summit.

During the rainy season, we often use the Marangu route, which is unique because it offers hut accommodations. Another excellent option is the Rongai route, which receives less rainfall.

Can I join a group hike if I don't have proper mountain gear?

Don’t have all the right mountain gear for your Kilimanjaro climb? That’s completely fine! Many of our adventurers are first-time trekkers who don’t own specialized equipment. At Bush to City Adventures, we want to make sure you have everything you need for a comfortable and successful trek.

To make things easy, we can direct you to a reputable local gear rental shop that provides a full range of high-quality equipment. You can rent everything from warm jackets and waterproof pants to sleeping bags and hiking boots.
You can rest assured that any gear you rent is clean and well-maintained. After every climb, all equipment is professionally cleaned and dried to ensure it is in excellent condition for the next adventurer.
