The tents at The River Camp are set along the banks of the Ngobit River, each with a private deck overlooking the water. Inside, every tent features a king or twin-bed configuration, an ensuite bathroom, a lounge and dressing area, and an outdoor shower facing the river and surrounding bush. Yoga mats and blocks are also provided. The interiors are warm and well-appointed, with the river always within sight or sound.
Your safari day begins at around 6:00 a.m., when your Bush 2 City Adventure guide takes you into Ol Pejeta Conservancy as the wilderness comes to life. The cool morning hours offer excellent opportunities to encounter black and southern white rhinos, elephants, lions, giraffes and other wildlife at their most active. After an exciting game drive, return to camp for breakfast and time to relax beside the river, enjoy the swimming pool or unwind at the spa.
At around 4:00 p.m., your guide takes you out again as the temperature cools and wildlife becomes active. Every drive brings something different—from rhinos grazing on the open plains and elephants gathering near water to lions patrolling their territory. End the experience with sundowner drinks in a scenic location before returning to camp at dusk for a relaxing evening and dinner.
Mutara Camp sits on a high cliff with amazing views, located north of the ancient Aberdare Forest. This forest is famous because it is where Elizabeth II became Queen over 70 years ago. To the west, you can see the snow-covered peaks of Mount Kenya.
