You are going to absolutely love your cottage here at Apoka! Since you’ve just checked in, let me give you a quick layout of your private space so you can start relaxing.
There are only 10 separate, fully self-contained cottages spread across the property, so you have incredible privacy. Inside, you have a beautiful indoor shower, but the real highlight is out on your private veranda. You’ve got a massive outdoor bathtub out there, perfect for a long soak, alongside a seating area made for relaxing.
Depending on which of the units you are in, your view is going to be spectacular. Six of the cottages look directly out with sweeping, open views over the Narus River valley and the surrounding savannah. If you are in one of the two units perched higher up on the hill, you get an even bigger panoramic view looking down over the lodge and out across the entire landscape.
It’s completely peaceful, intimate, and designed to make you feel like you have this whole remote valley to yourself. Go un-pack, pour a drink, and check out that view from your deck!
APOKA LODGE is a relaxed and very remote location of the park which provides a quiet, private, and fulfilling experience. Apoka consists of 10 separate cottages, each fully self-contained and including both an indoor shower and an outdoor bathtub, as well as a veranda for relaxing and enjoying the view. Sweeping views over the Narus river valley and surrounding savannah. All our cottages are ideal for honeymoon couples.
Your day starts by stepping straight into the vast, golden-green plains of the Narus Valley. Because you are in Kidepo, you are about to experience an abundance of wildlife that you cannot find anywhere else in the country.
Keep your eyes peeled and your camera ready—your morning game drive is going to bring you face-to-face with elephants, giraffes, zebras, and quite possibly Africa’s largest herds of buffalo moving across the savannah. Watch the craggy, rocky outcrops closely; that’s where the lions and leopards love to lounge. And don’t forget to look out for the cheetah—Kidepo is the only park in Uganda where you can see them—as well as unique rarities like the tantalus monkey and wild ostriches.
When the midday heat hits, the wildlife wanders right past the lodge, meaning you don’t even have to leave to stay on safari. You can head straight to the main star of the lodge: the massive swimming pool carved directly into the natural rock face. It is so spectacular it honestly makes you want to leap in, arms in the air, shouting “Yahooooo!”
After a refreshing swim, head back to your room for one of the best features of Apoka. You have a massive outdoor rock tub waiting for you on your deck. Pour a daytime cooling soak, look out over the valley, and watch the animals roam the plains while you relax in complete privacy.
As the sun goes down, the real magic of being this remote sets in. The vast daytime plains become a stage for an even bigger night sky. Because there is zero light pollution out here, you will sit under a canopy of impossibly bright stars that stretches from horizon to horizon—the kind of sky that gracefully reminds you the Earth is round.
To end your perfect day, have the staff draw a night-time bubble bath in your outdoor rock tub. Soaking in warm water under a blanket of a million stars, listening to the distant roar of a Kidepo lion… There is absolutely nothing else like it.
