Travel Requirements For This Tour

International Flights

International flights are not included in your safari package and must be booked, paid for and managed directly by you. For this Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya safari, your international flights should be arranged as follows:

  • Arrival: Entebbe International Airport (EBB), Uganda
  • Departure: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), Nairobi, Kenya

Bush 2 City Adventure can assist by recommending suitable international flight options that coordinate with your safari itinerary. However, the final booking, payment and management of international flights remain your responsibility.

When booking, please check your arrival and departure dates and times against your confirmed safari itinerary, as well as passport, visa and transit requirements, connection times, airline check-in requirements and baggage allowances.

Bush 2 City Adventure is not responsible for international flight delays, cancellations, missed connections, schedule changes or other disruptions caused by third-party airlines.

Domestic & Regional Flights

Where domestic or regional flights within or between Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya are included in your safari, Bush 2 City Adventure will arrange and book these flights on your behalf. Your confirmed flight details will be provided before departure.

Safari aircraft often have strict baggage limits and may require soft-sided luggage, so please follow the baggage requirements provided for each flight.

Flight schedules may change due to weather, operational requirements or circumstances beyond our control. If a flight is cancelled or significantly changed before travel, we will assist with arranging a suitable available alternative. Once travel has commenced, airline delays, cancellations and other disruptions remain subject to the operating airline’s conditions.

Important Travel Responsibility

Please ensure your international flights allow sufficient time for immigration, customs, baggage collection, airport transfers and onward connections.

If an independently booked international flight causes you to miss part of your safari or a connecting flight, any additional accommodation, transfers, meals, replacement flights or itinerary changes will be at the traveler’s expense.

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering flight delays, cancellations, missed connections, baggage and other unexpected travel disruptions.

Health & Medical Considerations

Travellers should be in reasonably good health for a Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya safari, particularly when participating in gorilla trekking in Uganda, which can involve several hours of walking through steep, muddy and uneven forest terrain.

If you have a medical condition, limited mobility, allergies or other requirements that may affect your safari, please consult your doctor before travelling and inform Bush 2 City Adventure in advance.

Vaccinations & Malaria

Yellow Fever vaccination requirements may apply when travelling between Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. Travellers should carry a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate where required.

Malaria is present in parts of all three countries. We recommend consulting your doctor or a travel-health specialist about malaria prevention and recommended vaccinations before departure.

Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla trekking requires a reasonable level of fitness and mobility. Trek duration and difficulty vary depending on the location of the gorillas, weather and trail conditions. Porters and walking sticks may be available to make the trek more comfortable.

To protect the gorillas, travellers showing symptoms of an infectious illness may not be permitted to participate in the trek.

Medication, Diet & Insurance

Bring sufficient prescription medication for your entire journey and keep essential medication in your carry-on luggage. Please inform us in advance of any dietary requirements, allergies, medical considerations or mobility needs.

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel and medical insurance, including emergency medical treatment, evacuation and repatriation coverage.

Health and vaccination requirements can change. Travellers are responsible for obtaining appropriate medical advice and ensuring they meet the current requirements for Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya before departure.

Recommended Safari Reading

Want to learn more about Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya before your safari? These books offer fascinating insights into East Africa’s wildlife, mountain gorillas, conservation, landscapes, history and safari heritage.

For the classic wildlife safari experience in Tanzania’s Serengeti and Kenya’s Maasai Mara, we recommend The Safari Companion by Richard D. Estes, The Kingdon Field Guide to African Mammals by Jonathan Kingdon, and Out of Africa by Karen Blixen.

For Uganda and mountain gorilla trekking, Gorillas in the Mist by Dian Fossey offers fascinating background on mountain gorillas and their conservation.

Whether trekking through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, exploring the Serengeti, or enjoying game drives across the Maasai Mara, these books can add a deeper appreciation of the wildlife, landscapes and conservation stories you will encounter.

Reading is completely optional, but a wonderful way to prepare for your Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya safari adventure.

Weather

Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya enjoy generally pleasant safari climates year-round, although conditions vary between tropical forests, highlands and open savannahs.

In Uganda, temperatures are generally warm, while Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is cooler due to its higher elevation and can receive rain at any time of year. The drier periods from June to August and December to February are generally favorable for gorilla trekking.

In Tanzania and Kenya, the Serengeti and Maasai Mara are typically warm during the day, with cooler early mornings and evenings. The main dry season from June to October provides excellent conditions for wildlife viewing and coincides with the period when the Great Migration is typically moving through the northern Serengeti and Maasai Mara.

Weather can change quickly, particularly in Uganda’s forest regions, so we recommend packing light layers, a warm jacket for early mornings, and a waterproof rain jacket regardless of your travel season.

What to Pack

Pack light, comfortable safari clothing in neutral colors, including lightweight shirts and trousers, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and insect repellent. Bring a light jacket or fleece for cooler early-morning and evening game drives in Tanzania and Kenya, together with a lightweight waterproof jacket.

For gorilla trekking in Uganda, pack sturdy waterproof hiking boots with good grip, long trousers, long-sleeved shirts, gardening or trekking gloves and a small waterproof daypack. Bwindi’s forest trails can be steep, muddy and wet, so gaiters and rain protection are highly recommended.

Useful safari essentials include binoculars, a camera, spare batteries, reusable water bottle, personal medication and essential travel documents. A small flashlight or headlamp can also be useful at safari camps and lodges.

Keep your passport, valuables, essential medication and important travel documents in your carry-on luggage.

Pack light, especially as this itinerary includes small safari aircraft between Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. Baggage weight, dimensions and soft-sided luggage requirements may apply, so please follow the baggage instructions provided with your confirmed flight details.
