5-Day Rwanda–Uganda Primate Safari

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport and after passing through immigration, you will be welcomed by our safari driver, who will brief you and transfer you to your booked accommodation.

After breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, you will be met by our company representative and introduced to your safari driver guide for a short briefing. If time allows, enjoy a brief Kigali city tour including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn about Rwanda’s 1994 history, followed by lunch. Thereafter, depart on a scenic two hour drive to Musanze. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge, unwind at leisure, and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

This morning, depart early for a golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park, beginning at 7:00 am. The trek follows a similar process to gorilla trekking but is generally less strenuous. These endangered primates live in bamboo forests at the base of the volcanoes and are known for their playful, energetic movements. In small groups, you will spend up to one hour observing them. After the trek, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before driving through the Cyanika border to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, about three hours away, for dinner and overnight.

Start with an early coffee, then attend a briefing by Uganda Wildlife officials before heading to the trekking point. Enter the forest to search for mountain gorillas and spend one unforgettable hour observing them. The trek may take half a day or a full day, requiring good fitness, proper gear, a packed lunch, and water. After this remarkable experience, return to meet your guide and drive back to Kigali for dinner and an overnight stay.

Have your early morning breakfast and, depending on your flight time, you will be transferred to the airport to catch up with your evening flight.
