Overview – Chyulu Hill NP
Chyulu Hills National Park, immortalized by Ernest Hemingway as the ‘Green Hills of Africa,’ remains a relatively undiscovered gem. This 100-mile-long volcanic mountain range, rising above the Amboseli Plain to an altitude of 7,000 feet, is one of the Earth’s youngest, having formed only about 500 years ago. The park features the Upper Leviathan Cave, one of the world’s longest caves.

A hiker’s paradise, Chyulu Hills is adorned with magnificent long-necked giraffes and offers stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, which sustains the Maasai people living below. The park’s forests and rivers create vital ecosystems, supporting a diverse array of wildlife and people. Unfortunately, the area faces challenges from human encroachment and poaching, leading to a reduced wildlife population.
