Turaco Treetops offers an immersive stay in the heart of Kibale’s tropical forest, combining the atmosphere of the jungle with contemporary comfort and warm African character.
The lodge features eight spacious luxury cottages set in secluded forest locations. Large windows and private wooden decks open onto beautiful views of Kibale Forest, creating a seamless connection between the accommodation and its natural surroundings. Thoughtful interiors blend clean, modern lines with wood and other natural materials. Guests can relax with a drink while watching Great Blue Turacos, black-and-white colobus monkeys and other forest wildlife nearby.
Turaco Treetops also offers eight comfortable standard rooms within four duplex buildings. Surrounded by forest, these rooms provide excellent value without sacrificing the lodge’s peaceful setting. Optional shared balconies make them particularly suitable for families and friends travelling together.
Turaco Treetops offers thoughtfully designed facilities for a comfortable and relaxing stay in Kibale Forest. From inviting dining and lounge areas to a swimming pool and dedicated children’s spaces, everything is arranged for couples, families, and friends to enjoy nature without sacrificing comfort.
Wake to the sounds of birds and monkeys in the surrounding forest before enjoying an early breakfast at Turaco Treetops. Your day may begin with chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park, where the Kanyanchu Primate Walk offers an excellent opportunity to observe habituated chimpanzees. For a deeper experience, join researchers and trackers during the full-day Chimpanzee Habituation Experience.
Alternatively, set out directly from the lodge on a guided nature walk through protected rainforest, reforestation and agroforestry zones. Look for primates, forest-elephant tracks, indigenous trees, colourful butterflies and numerous bird species. Half of the proceeds from these walks support the Chris Roberts Forest Foundation and its conservation work.
Other activities include birdwatching, a guided 4.5-kilometre walk through Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, hiking or mountain biking among crater lakes and tea plantations, and visiting the nearby communities of Nkingo and Bigodi. You may meet local residents, learn how tea is harvested and walk to the scenic “Top of the World” viewpoint.
After your chosen adventure, return to Turaco Treetops for a refreshing swim or a quiet drink overlooking the forest. As evening settles over Kibale, enjoy dinner at the lodge while listening to the sounds of the rainforest and reflecting on the day’s discoveries.
