Once the private home of Italian nobleman Count Ancilotto, Loisaba blends historic charm with refined rustic luxury. The tented camp offers twelve spacious tents featuring floor-to-ceiling doors and windows, polished wooden floors, and elegant Africana décor with subtle European influences.
Among its most unique experiences are the famous star beds—beautiful four-poster beds set on raised wooden platforms beneath thatched roofs. These can be rolled onto private decks, allowing guests to sleep under Kenya’s vast, star-filled skies. Each retreat is privately positioned in the wilderness and includes dedicated staff, open-air dining, a full bathroom, and sweeping views across 60,000 acres of wildlife-rich landscape.
Through its partnerships with The Nature Conservancy and Space for Giants, Loisaba also plays an important role in protecting elephants, lions, wild dogs, and many other iconic species.
Located within the 50,000-acre Naboisho Conservancy, the camp offers an exclusive safari experience with a limited number of guests. Game drives are available in the early morning, late afternoon, and at night, providing opportunities to observe a wide variety of wildlife, including nocturnal species.
Optional activities may include hot air balloon safaris over the nearby Maasai Mara, bush breakfasts, and cultural visits to local Maasai communities. Guests may also use camp-provided cameras and equipment to capture wildlife and scenery during their stay.
Mutara Camp sits on a high cliff with amazing views, located north of the ancient Aberdare Forest. This forest is famous because it is where Elizabeth II became Queen over 70 years ago. To the west, you can see the snow-covered peaks of Mount Kenya.
As the only lodge in the 20,000-acre Mutara Conservancy, the camp is very private and romantic. You will see plenty of incredible wildlife while enjoying excellent personal service. With its beautiful tents and wild setting, Mutara Camp is a truly special place to stay.
