Guided by your Bush 2 City Safari Director, the Serengeti becomes more than a destination—it becomes a revelation. In the company of our expert guides, you will discover the Africa of your dreams: a golden paradise “caressed by light and air,” where every private game drive feels like a personal audience with the wild.
In the cool, crystalline air of dawn, witness the savannah awaken. You may find yourself remarkably close to a pride of lions as they begin their day, their fiery gaze passing through your vehicle as if you were merely a passing cloud. Nearby, elephants pace the horizon with timeless grace, “as if they had an appointment at the end of the world.”
The landscape is a living masterpiece. From the “galumphing” play of hippos in hidden pools to the infinite, shimmering streams of the Great Migration, every moment is framed by the legendary African sky. It is an incandescent canopy of pink and slate-blue clouds so rich and dramatic, they look—as Hemingway once noted—as though you could scoop them up with a spoon.
Nestled in the pristine heart of the Northern Serengeti, Mara River Camp occupies a position of unrivaled prestige. Situated a mere ten minutes from the legendary Mara River, this camp offers guests more than a stay; it provides an intimate sanctuary at the threshold of nature’s most cinematic theatre.
While the world knows these waters for the thunderous drama of the Great Migration crossings, the true luxury lies in the quiet intervals. Beyond the spectacle, the landscape reveals a rich, permanent tapestry of life—where apex predators claim the shadows and ancient herds roam the golden plains. Here, the rhythm of the wild is not just something you observe; it is a pulse you feel, mere moments from your doorstep.
Before Namiri Plains existed, these vast grasslands in Tanzania were closed off to visitors for over 20 years to help the cheetah population recover. This was a hugely successful conservation effort, and today, the area is home to healthy populations of elephants, zebras, giraffes, and many other animals.
Namiri Plains is now a remote and much-loved camp that offers an excellent base for a safari. The camp’s design is beautiful, with graceful tented roofs, luxurious outdoor tubs, and a deep-blue pool overlooking the endless Serengeti landscape.
Located by the Ngare Nanyuki River, the camp offers plenty of ways to relax. You can spend a sultry afternoon by the pool, indulge at the spa, or find a good book in the library, which is filled with fascinating materials about big cats and conservation.
We highly recommend enjoying a cocktail on your private deck and watching the incredible cloud formations that only the Serengeti sky can produce. Completely refurbished in 2019, Namiri Plains runs entirely on solar power, although after each breathtaking sunset, you’ll find that the stars alone are enough to light up your night.
The Serengeti Explorer represents a flawless fusion of contemporary innovation and the eternal spirit of the wild. It is a place where clean-energy sophistication and curated wellness—from yoga decks to organic juice bars—seamlessly integrate with the ancient rhythms of the landscape.
From this elevated vantage point, the Serengeti’s theater unfolds in unrivaled clarity. Our curated game drives provide privileged access to the heart of the ecosystem, where the Big Five roam across iconic rock outcrops. Whether tracking the elusive leopard or witnessing the quiet power of a lion pride, the experience is one of profound proximity. Here, within this secluded swatch of a world-renowned wilderness, the Serengeti Explorer stands as a timeless base for the modern adventurer.
