Nestled high above the wildlife-rich plains on three of the Maasai Mara’s renowned rocky outcrops, called kopjes, Angama Mara offers stunning vistas and meticulously curated safari adventures. These kopjes, one of which was a filming location for scenes in “Out of Africa,” create a profound sense of return, evoking the feeling of coming home.
Angama Mara, accessible via its own airstrip, comprises two distinct luxury camps, each with only 15 tents that provide commanding views of the plains below. The Pavilion, centrally located between the camps, features an infinity pool, a gift shop, Wi-Fi, a library, a well-appointed fitness room, and a spacious deck. From this vantage point, guests can savor the Mara’s dramatic sunrises, sunsets, and ever-changing landscapes—all just a short 10-minute walk from any tent in either camp.

Angama Mara’s tented luxury suites capture the natural elegance and quiet beauty of the Maasai Mara. Each suite, spanning over 320 square feet, features a nearly 40-foot-wide floor-to-ceiling glass front, gleaming parquet floors, exquisite interior decor, Wi-Fi, and a charming collection of African-themed books. Guests can enjoy expansive views from the bed, bath, sitting area, and the open-to-infinity deck, where private meals can be served.
As we like to say, these are tents in the same sense that the Empire State Building is just an office building. The King of Canvas has truly outdone himself at Angama Mara, crafting luxurious and imaginative dwellings that honor the finest safari traditions.
Game viewing in the Maasai-Mara, the more verdant northern segment of the vast Serengeti-Maasai Mara ecosystem, is as rewarding as game viewing gets on planet Earth. The great cyclical migration of millions of herbivores and their carnivore predators occurs throughout the year, peaking in July through November. But the mass movement is relatively constant, and the fabled Big Five (elephant, leopard, Cape Buffalo, lion, and dinasauric rhino) are always in residence. Our safari game drives are designed for flexibility (of time, game locations, and your naturalist predilections) and our Micato Safari Director, who knows the Mara intimately, is always ready to honour our preferences.
Micato’s half-century-plus in the safari business has taught us that people come to Africa see its animals, but leave in love with its people. Angama Mara is well staffed with local Maasai, from naturalists and bakers to the camp manager himself; every evening at sunset Maasai warriors (or moran) visit the lodge to perform their dramatic dances, and in the craft studio guests can take a well-tutored crack at traditional crafts, jazzing up their safari jackets or sweaters, say, with classic Maasai beads. And when we visit a local manyatta, or village, our Safari Director is greeted as a familiar elder, and we are welcomed as interesting new friends.

Embark on exhilarating game drives through the baobab-studded landscapes of Tarangire, known for its massive elephant herds. This is your chance to disconnect from the world and truly reconnect with nature.
Perched on the Great Rift escarpment, Acacia Farm Lodge is a romantic country estate overlooking the lush Karatu farmlands and Ngorongoro forest. Surrounded by birdsong and ancient coffee trees, the lodge offers a timeless tranquility in the heart of the wild.
Perfectly positioned between Tarangire and the Serengeti, we serve as the ultimate private base for exploring East Africa’s most iconic World Heritage sites.
Serengeti Ark Safari Lodge is a luxury safari camp situated on a hillside in the northern Serengeti, Tanzania. This location is particularly advantageous as it provides easy access to the famous Mara River, a key crossing point for the Great Migration. The lodge is designed to blend modern comfort with the untamed natural beauty of the Serengeti, offering a serene and exclusive base for safari adventures.
The lodge features well-appointed, spacious tents on raised platforms, providing guests with spectacular views of the surrounding savannah plains and the wildlife that roams freely. Each tent is en-suite with modern facilities, including a flushing toilet and hot and cold running water. The camp also prioritizes sustainability, utilizing a solar power system and locally sourced materials to minimize its environmental footprint.
Serengeti Ark Safari Lodge offers a range of activities and amenities to enhance the safari experience. Guests can enjoy both game drives and bush walks, and for those seeking a unique perspective, hot air ballooning is also available. The camp’s main area includes a restaurant that serves a variety of cuisines, a well-stocked bar, a swimming pool, and a fireplace, creating a relaxing atmosphere where guests can unwind and share stories after a day of exploration.
