With your guide, you'll get to see what daily life is like in this village, where most people work on coffee farms. You'll learn all about how coffee is grown, from the bean to the cup, and even get to taste a cup of traditional coffee. Then, you'll relax at the beautiful Materuni Waterfalls. Afterward, enjoy a picnic lunch at the falls, and there's also an option to donate to help village students. After enjoying breakfast, we'll begin our journey to our first safari destination, the diverse Tarangire National Park. Our morning drive, covering approximately 120 kilometers, takes us westward from Arusha, offering scenic views that showcase the vibrant colors and rich character of Tanzania. Along the way, you may catch glimpses of Maasai herdsmen guiding their goats to fresh pastures, providing a glimpse into local life. During this journey, you'll have the opportunity to bond with your driver-guide, who will impress you with their extensive knowledge as they effortlessly address any questions you may have.

Tarangire National Park is renowned for its large herds of elephants and the abundance of majestic baobab trees. These iconic trees, which can live for centuries, serve as a vital water source for elephants during the dry season, thanks to their unique ability to store water. Additionally, the Tarangire River remains the sole water source during this period, attracting large gatherings of wildlife, including groups of up to 250 elephants. Each game drive promises surprises, particularly for bird enthusiasts, as the park is home to over 400 bird species, including colorful bee-eaters, majestic hornbills, and a myriad of other avian species. If you're visiting between February and June, keep an eye out for the striking yellow-billed stork and the elegant pink-backed pelicans, adding to the avian highlights of the area. After breakfast, we'll embark on our morning excursions to meet the Hadzabe hunter-gatherers and visit a local blacksmith, bringing along packed lunches for the journey. Each person will find their own favorite cultural experience today, but meeting the Hadzabe hunter-gatherers might leave the most lasting impression. Their way of life will make you reflect on the simplicity, though not necessarily the ease, of life.

Situated in the Great Rift Valley, southwest of the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Eyasi experiences significant fluctuations in its salt-water levels with the changing seasons. During dry years, the lake can nearly vanish. Near this shimmering lake, our first stop involves joining the Hadzabe on a hunting expedition, offering insight into the unique lifestyle of Tanzania's last hunter-gatherers. We'll then visit a local blacksmith as he demonstrates his craft, skillfully fashioning pots and weapons from scrap metal.

Serengeti National Park promises a plethora of wildlife encounters in the days ahead, but today's highlight, especially for those visiting for the first time, is the breathtaking Serengeti terrain itself. The expansive plains stretching endlessly before you will evoke a profound sense of wonder.

Finally arriving at Serengeti, the unparalleled gem of Tanzania, sets the stage for the captivating natural spectacles that will unfold over the coming days. Your game drive here blends the familiar with the unexpected, offering both the certainty of witnessing astounding wildlife and the unpredictability of what, exactly, you'll encounter and when. The ever-changing light and the dynamic cast of animal characters ensure that each moment brings a new experience. Serengeti boasts an impressive population of over four thousand lions, 225 cheetahs, a thousand leopards, 3500 hyenas, and hundreds of wild dogs! Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater

Today, as we bid farewell to Serengeti, we embark on a final game drive through the park before continuing our journey to Ngorongoro. Upon arrival at Ngorongoro, we'll enjoy lunch on the crater floor near the hippo pool.

Ngorongoro Crater is a truly unparalleled natural wonder, serving as a unique habitat for an abundance of Tanzania's wildlife. With a bit of luck, you may even catch a glimpse of a black rhino in this extraordinary setting.

From the rim of the crater, we'll marvel at the breathtaking panoramic view before descending into the vast expanse below. On one side lies the Lerai Forest, characterized by its classic mountain forest landscape with tropical characteristics, making it prime elephant territory. Nearby, you'll encounter what is often referred to as the 'elephant graveyard,' where elderly male tuskers come to graze on the soft grasses of the swampland once their teeth have worn down.

The crater is home to approximately 120 lions, each with well-defined territories, as well as 15,000 wildebeest, 9,000 zebras, 400 hyenas, and around 50 black rhinos. Many resident wildebeest and other herd animals thrive here due to the numerous year-round water sources, supplemented by seasonal migratory herds. Additionally, buffalo, Thomson's gazelle, and eland are plentiful, while hippos can be found in pools and swampland. The highland birdlife is vibrant and abundant around the waters, with flamingos often visible in Lake Magadi, which adorns part of the crater floor. Later, we'll return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
