4 - DAY ITINERARY

Day - By - Day

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport –Kigali

International arrival at Kigali airport. Meet and greet by our representative in the airport who will assist your will all procedures of the immigration and assist to collect your bags. We’ll settle at Kigali Serena Hotel, a good base for our wanderings in these almost supernaturally verdant precints.

Our carefully orchestrated visits begin in Kigali, Rwanda’s charming capital, which we’ll tour before heading northwest to the Virunga Volcanoes, a stately chain of jungle volcanoes that peak at Mount Karisimbi’s 14,787 feet, higher that any Rocky or Sierra Nevada.

Overnight: Kigali Serena Hotel        

Ideally located on one of Kigali’s most charming boulevards, the five-star Kigali Serena Hotel is built around a polished granite atrium, which showcases the very best of Rwandese cultural art. Relaxed yet elegant, the hotel centers on the Executive Lounge and Bar, which opens onto a wide sundeck overlooking the newly refurbished swimming pool. Also overlooking the pool, the popular Milima Restaurant offers a wide range of all-day buffet choices, while the relaxed Sokoni Café offers inside and outside poolside seating. Day 2: Kigali to VolcanoesNational Park

Today after taking your early morning breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to visit the Kigali genocide memorial grounds, which honors the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through education and peacebuilding. You will be able to watch and listen to some video clips from some of the survivors of the incident. After lunch, you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park. We’ll settle at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel, a good base for our wanderings in these almost supernaturally verdant precincts.

Bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo in Rwanda, the Volcanoes National Park is best known as a sanctuary for the region’s rare mountain gorillas. Visitors flock here to experience a face-to-face encounter with these intriguing creatures. The park is set high on the jungle-covered slopes of the volcanic Virunga Mountains. Highly regulated treks through the reserve allow visitors to spend an hour at a time with these incredible primates in their natural habitat. While the gorillas are without a doubt the main drawcard, visitors can also look forward to exploring a network of scenic hiking trails, visiting the tomb of the world-famous Dian Fossey and the Karisoke Research Centre, and enjoying a beautiful day hike to the crater lake on Mount Bisoke.

Overnight: One&Only Gorilla’s Nest       

One & Only Gorilla’s Nest is situated right in the foothills of the Volcanoes National Park, creating the opportunity for a once in a lifetime rare personal encounter with a majestic mountain gorilla. Hidden amongst the trees this hotel is unique, surrounded by flourishing wildlife. The cabins and suites are more than cozy, each with an elegant and luxurious interior is fitted with a minibar, a flat-screen TV, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Guests may enjoy a complimentary breakfast each morning, there is also an on-site restaurant serving only the best cuisine. There are activities available at the establishment such as guided gorilla treks and wellness workshops.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking at Volcanoes National Park

After an early morning we will drive to volcanoes National Parkfrom Kigali, you will be transferred to the park headquarters. You will meet with your ranger who will brief you about the code of conduct while with the gorillas led by our guide and his crew, we’ll begin making our way through a forest of trailing vines, bird calls, and mossy hagenia trees – a Jurassic, emerald world – walking toward an encounter with one of the park’s ten habituated families of mountain gorillas; no more than eight people are allowed to visit any given family for more than an hour each day. Seeing a 450-pound male only a few yards away is something you’ll want to tell your grandchildren’s children about.

The trekking may take 26 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas in the jungle and your group speed as well.After a great experience you will walk back to the starting point and be transferred to your wilderness retreats at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel, you can decide to Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel, relax at your lodge at your leisure or head for a cultural encounter at Iby’ Iwacu cultural site to get an insight of Rwandan culture .

Day 4: Golden monkey and transfer to Kigali for departure

Early morning cup of coffee, then prepare for the golden monkey briefing from the park headquarters and thereafter, you will enter the jungle with your packed snacks to search the shy primates and enjoy their life style in their real home. After meeting the golden monkeys, you can sit around these great apes for a whole hour watching their social life as you take pictures. On a golden monkey trek. After trekking we will go for lunch before to be transferred back to Kigali to the airport for your departure flight
