Rwanda

Renowned for its rare mountain gorillas, Rwanda is the epitome of a jungle safari. Home to some 400 mountain gorillas, the rainforests of Volcanoes National Park is one of the country’s biggest drawcards. But there’s so much more to see in this relatively small African country than just its gorillas.

Known as “The Land of a Thousand Hills”, Mother Nature blessed Rwanda with breathtaking mountains, valleys, lakes, abundant wildlife, and resilient people that are at the heart of every travel story related to the country.

With its high-value, low-impact eco-tourism model, a trip to Rwanda offers accommodation in world-class eco-hotels, impeccable dining at the finest restaurants, and an opportunity to savor some of the best coffee in Africa.

They say that a trip to Rwanda should be based on its people, its culture, and of course, its gorillas. We reckon that couldn’t be a more accurate summary. Rwanda might have faced a troubled past, but the one constant it has always had in its corner is its spectacular scenery and biodiversity.

Renowned for its cleanliness, orderliness, and safety, Kigali is a stark contrast to most other African cities.

The Kigali Genocide Museum offers a grim yet insightful look into the country’s tragic past that one must experience to appreciate its glorious road to recovery. Then there’s Umusambi Village Nature Reserve, Kigali’s premier wildlife sanctuary, where tourists can recharge themselves in the tranquil environment.

A visit to the Kimironko Market, the most prominent and busiest market in Kigali, is where you can browse through endless supplies of foodstuffs, fabrics, and clothing. Equally as captivating is the Kaplaki Handicrafts Market with its large selection of hand-crafted souvenirs.

Of all the extraordinary sights and attractions this area offers, the one that never fails to captivate is the famous mountain gorillas. Understandably, most tourists visit the park to have their own experience with the gorillas in the mist, but these gentle giants also share their habitat with rare golden monkeys.

The simple pleasure of hiking along the park’s well-maintained trails covering lush green valleys of the equatorial rainforest is another major highlight of the area. Although the chimps tend to steal the spotlight, there are also plenty of opportunities to witness the Angolan Colobi, Dent’s Monkeys, Grey-Cheeked Monkeys, Olive Baboons, Vervet Monkeys, and Diademed Monkeys throughout the park.

The park is divided in two by the Huye-Cyangugu road, which means you can gain access through the Kitabi Booking Office or the Gisakura Booking Office, both of which lie along this road.
